ACT! by Sage 2010 Integration

ACT! integrates with Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is the preferred email client for most businesses and ACT! fully integrates with Outlook.  In your ACT! preferences you can set Outlook to be your default email client, so that all email is sent by Outlook.  In addition you can set the ACT! scheduler to synchronise your ACT! calendar with your Outlook calendar, so that all meetings and tasks are pushed through to Outlook.

Outlook''s Address Book can be set to use the ACT! as its default contact database so that you can easily send emails from Outlook whilst pulling the recipients email address from ACT!.  ACT! will automatically match all emails sent from Outlook to contacts in ACT! and record the communication in the contacts history.

Outlook integration

ACT! installs quick integration buttons in Outlook''s Standard toolbar giving the following functionality (right to left):

  • Quick Attach - attaches the selected email to the contacts history in ACT!
  • Meeting Request - schedules a meeting with the contact based on the email address.
  • Create New Contact - uses the details in the selected email to create a new contact record in ACT!
  • Attach to Contacts - allows you to attach the selected email to multiple contact records.

ACT! iCalendar integration

ACT! by Sage 2010 can also integrate meeting and task schedules with calendar software. This is achieved using the iCalendar format. A number of applications support this format:

  • Outlook Address book
  • Google Calendar
  • Windows Live Calendar
  • Apple iCal
  • Yahoo! Calendar
  • FaceBook
  • Lotus Notes

Once you have initiated the creation of an activity (meeting, task or call) you can have an iCalendar request auto generated. In order to do this you must select the Send Invitation email checkbox.

iCalendar check box

ACT! will then create an email with the iCalendar request attached. You can then  personalise the email message and send it.
